I have been taking pictures for over twenty years, since I bought my first camera at age fifteen. As my life's journey unfolds, I have developed a vision of the world through my lens. As I hike along a San Francisco Bay area trail, or walk down a city street, something will catch my eye --a curve, a smile, a texture. And that moment of composing and capturing something I see as beautiful or striking is a moment of pure bliss, a fog that always leaves a trace of disappointment as the moment passes.
My goal as an artist is to convey a spiritual luminescence that attracts the viewer on both an intellectual and emotional plane. My photos strive to capture natural beauty though simple abstraction, in the same way that Japanese printmaking can capture the elegance of nature with just a few brushstrokes. I'm very attracted to the underlying compositions inherent in nature, the natural still lifes that surround us and only reveal themselves to those who walk slowly, look around, take a deep breath and look again.
I hail from both Boston and San Francsico, and now I call Beijing, China my home since 2007.
